The South African Police Service (SAPS) has strongly condemned “the discrimination and offensive remarks” directed at its spokesperson in KwaZulu-Natal, Colonel Robert Netshiunda. A video of Netshiunda’s interaction with an aggrieved woman outside a police station has gone viral on social media. In the footage, the woman is seen admonishing the spokesperson for not talking to her in isiZulu. His presence in KwaZulu-Natal reflects the diversity and unity that define the SAPS,” the Service explained. It revealed that Netshiunda was recently recognised as Administration Officer of the Year at the KZN Provincial Commissioner’s Excellence Awards.
