Bill helps seniors, first-time home buyers

McGuire believes he and his cosponsors have hit on a way to construct that connection: Suspending capital gains taxes so that sellers are not penalized when they sell to first-time buyers.

“This common-sense approach increases housing inventory, opens doors for young families and helps restore balance to a broken housing market.”He said the American dream has always meant owning a home.
“You’re taking real steps to help the younger generation achieve the American dream of owning a home,” he said.
Called the Don’t Tax the American Dream Act, this legislation proposes to eliminate federal capital gains taxes on the sale of primary residences.
