The hospital’s skilled team of surgeons successfully performed 10 laparoscopic procedures using robotic technology on what was dubbed "Super Sunday". All patients underwent day surgery, a feat made possible by the faster recovery times associated with robotic surgery. Many patients suffering from complex gallbladder diseases found relief through the quicker recovery made possible by robotic surgery. At the time, Mr. Siong-Seng Liau, chairman of the trust’s Robotic Surgery Steering Group (RUG) and a hepatobiliary surgeon, said: "Robotic surgery has revolutionised patient care, providing better precision and accuracy. "In many cases, robotic surgery has converted some patients who conventionally may require open surgery due to more complex disease to now undergoing day-case robotic surgery."
