Havering Council's licensing sub-committee has postponed making a decision on Boka's application to sell alcohol until February 10, while officers conduct a site visit. The licensing team first sought clarification on the opening hours proposed, and also wanted to arrange a visit to Boka - located at the Palms Hotel - to "visually see" the area the proposed licence covers. The lawyer representing Boka highlighted that her client was not against holding a site visit, but said that deferring the meeting would amount to a "significant cost" of about £3,000. The police also raised concerns about late-night drinking after a man was "attacked in the lobby of Palms Hotel" in June 2025. The licensing sub-committee are due to meet again at 1pm on February 10, following a site visit on January 29.
