A 400-metre stretch of water main will be replaced on Outwood Common Road during the works. Councillor Andrew Schrader, who represents Billericay East, has said the failing infrastructure has resulted in burst water-mains that have led to supply interruptions and significant traffic disruption. Starting on February 2, the road will be closed for around six weeks from its junction with Greenway to the lower junction with Outwood Farm Road. Councillor Schrader said: "I have been informed by Essex & Suffolk Water that they will be undertaking works to replace approximately 400 metres of ageing water-main on Outwood Common Road. "Needless to say, however, it will result in significant disruption while they replace the two existing mains with a single brand new modern water-main."
