Rear wheel bolts on some electric bikes have been recalled because they can break when tightened. The Hyena manufactured bolts are installed on 19,890 model year 2026 Trek FX+ 1 and Electra Townie Go! No injuries have been reported but the company has received seven reports of the rear wheel bolts breaking, causing the wheel to separate from the bicycle, which poses a fall hazard. The Electra bicycles have the word “townie” printed on the down tube, “electra” on the seat stay, and “go!” on the chain guard. The original rear wheel bolts connect the motor to the rear frame of the bicycles.
