EAGLES MERE — The Eagles Mere toboggan slide is set to open at 5 p.m. Friday. The Eagles Mere Volunteer Fire Co. is the primary beneficiary of the slide, but proceeds are shared with other volunteer companies in the county that help operate it. The toboggan slide is an economic boon to the businesses in Eagles Mere that are open in the winter. The Eagles Mere Inn is booked for the next three weekends, its general manager Jim Way said. Those driving to Eagles Mere should be aware that there are no gas stations in the borough, so they should plan accordingly.
