SIDNEY - Over the past few weeks, Cheyenne County schools have been holding spelling bees to determine which top spellers would advance to the Cheyenne County Spelling Bee. The county spelling bee was held Tuesday, January 20, at 1 p.m. in the Sidney West Elementary auditorium. It was there that Sidney sixth grader Yareth Vazquez won the 2026 Cheyenne County Spelling Bee when he correctly spelled the word "cadre" in the seventh round. Meza was also the runner up for the 2025 Cheyenne County Spelling Bee. The following students participated in the 2026 Cheyenne County Spelling Bee.
