BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - Ongoing frigid temperatures and shortages of road salt in some areas is hampering cleanup from this week’s winter storm. WCAX viewer Dan emailed to say that “cars are slipping everywhere,” and Burlington is not plowing the streets. Days after a major snowstorm, cars in Vermont’s most populous city slosh along the roads as crews load up on road salt. Salt has been in the spotlight this winter with multiple municipalities reporting shortages. Even with more salt potentially on the way, recent temperatures below 15 degrees can make it less effective.
