President Donald Trump broke with his usual pattern on Thursday and did not take questions from reporters during two White House appearances. Trump spoke in front of reporters and TV cameras for a Cabinet meeting in the morning then again later Thursday during an announcement for a new drug addiction initiative. White House reporters noted it was unusual for the typically talkative president to refuse questions from the news media. CNN's Kaitlan Collins posted on X, "For the second time today, Trump declines to take any questions from reporters. Hard to think of a moment in the Trump presidency when that’s happened before."
