KCCB is reducing the plastic along our roads and in our waterways, but wouldn’t it be better if there was less plastic to pick up? Incineration of plastic waste is the heaviest polluting disposal method — releasing vast amounts of climate-heating gases and toxic air emissions. Meanwhile, the microplastics themselves keep releasing greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. There are many solutions to the plastic problem, such as decreasing plastic in school cafeterias and schools in general.
