Police have recanted and apologised for sharing a preliminary report regarding a fatal accident on the N2 between Mondplaas and Jeffreys Bay. On Wednesday, police reported that an 80-year-old man had died after his VW Tiguan collided with a truck, before the vehicle caught fire on impact. Nkohli says they have since established that the vehicle was sold but not re-registered in the new owner's name. He says a forensic investigation is underway to formally establish the identity of the deceased. A case of culpable homicide is under investigation, and the circumstances surrounding the incident form part of the ongoing investigation.
