Extremely low temperatures, strong winds anticipated for weekend
['Davis Cobb']
Tifton Gazette
TIFTON — Severe cold and strong winds are expected to hit the Tiftarea over the next few days, bringing temperatures to frigid levels across the weekend.
Forecasts from the National Weather Service predict extremely low wind chills and a hard freeze will blow through the area over the weekend resulting from a strong arctic cold front and northwestern winds expected to hit the region Saturday.
This is anticipated to bring a large cold air mass to the region, leading to strong, chilling winds and very low temperatures beginning Saturday and continuing through Monday.
The Tiftarea has a low risk of accumulating snow over the weekend, but also has one of the highest chances of snow among the surrounding areas.
NWS predicts low temperatures on Sunday and into Monday across the southeastern U.S., with several communities dipping into the teens or lower.
