The California Employment Development Department recently released unemployment figures for December, revealing month-over-month variances of higher and lower rates across the Bay Area. The county added jobs in manufacturing; trade, transportation and utilities; financial activities; and private education and health services. Specifically, the EDD reported the Retail Trade sector saw a 300 job increase from November to December, growing to 17,800 jobs. The private health and education sector grew by 200 jobs. The industry saw job gains in hospitals and social assistance.
