SALT LAKE CITY — Heavy smoke was seen over a Kearns house that caught on fire on Thursday. According to the Unified Fire Authority, two people were transported to the hospital with fire-related injuries. Officials said the residents in the home managed to escape the flames on their own and the fire was successfully extinguished by fire crews. The home was not totally destroyed, though the Unified Fire Authority said that smoke and water damage was throughout the house, with particular damage to a bedroom, the kitchen and general living area. Officials said they think the fire started with the space heater, though they have not confirmed the cause of the fire.
