The Pacific Beach Town Council opened the new year by asking residents to name their community priorities so the council’s members have guidance for their efforts in 2026. About 40 residents participated during the Jan. 21 meeting, where they gathered around four tables to identify the top three challenges facing Pacific Beach, existing community features they’d like expanded and approaches for the council. “We need to involve more than just the town council,” Anderson said. After listing other accidents suffered by her neighbors on Pacific Beach Drive, Altamirano said, “In light of the really recent tragedy … it’s just unacceptable how fast people drive down that street.
