A man who returned to the airport to retrieve lost luggage containing €294,000 ($351k) worth of cannabis has been sentenced to two years and four months in prison. Alfonso Turano (41) landed in Ireland a day before the suitcase, which was packed with 14.7kg (32 lbs) of cannabis. Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard that he filled out a lost luggage form using his real name and came back the next day to pick it up. Turano, hailing from Calabro, Italy, pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis for sale or supply on March 1, 2025 at Dublin Airport. ‌When the suitcase didn't arrive, he paid cash to stay overnight at a hotel near the airport and filled out a lost luggage form.
