The recent winter storm hit the East Coast hard, with much of Maryland seeing between 3 and 12 inches of snow, depending on location. Although Maryland avoided the worst of the storm, coastal areas still experienced heavy snow and fierce winds. Parts of Maryland received more than 20 inches of snow, much of it heavy and wet. In 1993, the Storm of the Century blanketed Maryland with 15 to 25 inches of snow. The storm brought not only heavy snowfall but also powerful winds, bitter cold, and even rare thundersnow, impacting much of the Eastern United States.
