Two of the building’s residents were taken by medics to a hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation, they said. No other injuries among the residents or firefighters were reported, authorities said. Southfield firefighters were called at about 2:44 a.m. Thursday to a four-story apartment building at 23105 Providence Drive near Nine Mile and Greenfield roads, Fire Chief Joey Thorington said in a statement. Fire crews arrived, found smoke coming from the front of the building, and began attacking the flames while simultaneously evacuating residents, according to authorities.
