A California woman accused of killing and decapitating her boyfriend was arrested in Mexico last week and returned to the U.S. to face charges of murder, authorities announced Thursday. Alyssa Marie Lira, 23, has been charged with one felony count of murder and one felony enhancement of personally using a weapon, according to Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer. The charges come five months after the headless body of Lira’s boyfriend, 55-year-old Enrique Gonzalez-Carbajal, was found in her Anaheim home. Lira was extradited back to the California and is currently being held at the Orange County Jail without bail. If convicted on both charges, Lira faces a maximum sentence of 26 years to life in prison.
