Two people will be handling the head-coaching duties for Gibraltar/Washington Island’s varsity baseball team next spring.
The Gibraltar School Board on Monday approved a recommendation from the district’s athletic department to hire Tom Sawyer and C.J.
Both Sawyer and Goetz played Door County League baseball this past summer, for Sister Bay and West Jacksonport, respectively, and the two have also been assistant football coaches at Gibraltar.
Sawyer, a 2010 Gibraltar High School graduate, was on the Vikings’ baseball team that won the Packerland Conference title his senior season.
Goetz graduated in 2018 from Catholic Memorial High School in Waukesha, where he was a four-sport athlete in football, basketball, baseball, and track and field.
