A petition has been filed in Parliament seeking the removal of Isaac Ruto from the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) over the former governor's alleged political partisanship and violations of constitutional provisions on independence and integrity. The petition, filed by advocate Eric Muriuki, accuses Isaac Ruto of attending a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) National Governing Council (NGC) meeting at State House on January 26, chaired by President William Ruto, who also serves as the UDA Party Leader. “The Constitution protects not only against actual partisan control but also against any appearance of political influence,” read part of the petition. He argued that decisions made by a politically compromised commission could undermine future cases, including potential presidential election petitions involving the ruling party. The petition includes photographs allegedly showing Isaac Ruto attending the UDA meeting dressed in party colours, social media posts from State House confirming the event, and letters from concerned individuals, including former JSC Commissioner Macharia Njeru, calling for Isaac Ruto’s resignation.
