Two police officers will face murder charges over the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old man in Mukuru kwa Njenga after prosecutors approved their prosecution.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) gave a green light to the charges following investigations by the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) into the January 11 incident.
Preliminary findings presented by IPOA paint a grim picture of how the young man met his death on that fateful morning in Mukuru kwa Njenga.
His body was later taken to Takwa Mosque in Mukuru kwa Njenga, where a post-mortem examination was conducted to determine the cause of death.
As of January 26, the court had extended the officers' detention at the Capitol Hill Police Station to allow investigators to analyse forensic and ballistic evidence collected.
