Dozens of workers at the Affordable Housing Project in Shauri Moyo, Nairobi, have raised alarm over delayed wages and a shortage of construction materials, claiming the situation has made their work and life unbearable. The workers claimed they were promised weekly payments, but most had not received their dues for two weeks, despite some artisans being partially paid. “We depend on daily work to survive,” said Musungi Nanyakha, one of the site workers. Citizen DigitalThe workers also complained of shortages of building materials, saying the lack of supplies had slowed down construction. The Shauri Moyo project is part of President William Ruto’s Affordable Housing Programme, a key pillar of the government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.
