According to a public information statement put out by the National Weather Service, the quake was felt as far north as Shelby and as far south as Helena. The USGS is warning that there is a 27% chance of aftershocks of a 3.0 higher earthquake as well as a 6% chance for one greater than 4.0. “No one can predict the exact time or place of an earthquake, including aftershocks,” a press release from the USGS said. The National Weather Service reminds residents to drop, cover and hold on in case of a quake. “When there are more earthquakes, the chance of a large earthquake is greater which means that the chance of damage is greater,” the USGS said.
