MANCHESTER, Jamaica — A man said to be of unsound mind was fatally shot after he reportedly hurled stones at the police, resulting in a cop nursing a head injury off Caledonia Road in Mandeville on Thursday. Preliminary reports are that shortly after 3:00 pm the man hurled stones at workers of a furniture and appliance store. The police were called, and during an alleged standoff, the man barricaded himself inside a house before hurling a stone at a policeman, hitting the cop in the head. The injured policeman reportedly fell to the ground. The man was transported to the nearby Mandeville Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
