The Federal Emergency Management Agency recently approved more than $971 million in funding to support recovery for past disasters in Mississippi, Georgia, Kentucky, North and South Carolina, and Tennessee. The funds are for Public Assistance projects, which include debris removal, emergency protective measures, and repair or replacement of public infrastructure damaged by disasters. Some of the grants approved across the Southeast are:$6.4 million to Walthall County, Mississippi, for debris removal operations following the March 2025 severe storms. $86 million to Kentucky Division of Emergency Management for debris removal operations following the July 2022 flood. $58 million to the Georgia Department of Transportation for debris removal operations following Helene.
