Morung Express NewsMokokchung | January 29Drug and liquor-related offences constituted a major portion of criminal cases in Mokokchung district last year. The District Enforcement Force (DEF), Mokokchung registered 48 criminal cases and arrested 67 persons in 2025, as per the district’s annual crime statement. Crimes registered under Special and Local Laws stood at 19 cases, including 14 cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. During the year, DEF Mokokchung registered one regular NLTP case and 51 criminal complaints, leading to the seizure of large quantities of illicit liquor. NDPS cases in 2025 stood at 14, matching the figures recorded in 2020 and 2022, and remaining significantly lower than the 32 cases registered in 2023.
