New Delhi, January 29 (MExN): In a written submission to the Parliament, Supongmeren Jamir, a Lok Sabha MP from Nagaland has made an appeal to the central government to resolve the decades-long Naga political issue. These agreements, he said, were historic steps that raised great hope among the Naga people for a lasting political solution. Yet, before any settlement could be finalized, the Interlocutor was replaced, and the process did not move forward as expected, Jamir stated. Highlighting the seriousness and unity within the state, the MP noted that the Nagaland Legislative Assembly had even formed an opposition-less government to act as facilitators in bringing about a Naga Political Solution. The time has come for the Government of India to translate its commitments and agreements into a final political settlement without further delay.”
