— As Lincoln County prepares to discuss a moratorium on hyperscale data centers, Lennox is gearing up to explore a feasibility study on the same issue. The Lennox City Council on Monday, Jan. 26, unanimously approved City Administrator Nate Vander Plaats to select and negotiate an agreement with a consultant for a future study on what a data center would look like in town. Vander Plaats clarified that taking on a consultant is not action on a data center itself, and is simply an exploratory move. “Following construction, while data centers do not individually employ large numbers of employees, those employees are well-paid. Vander Plaats suggested creating a new zoning category specific to data centers, but said the feasibility of such a zone would need further investigation.
