For the study, researchers looked at serotonergic antidepressants, which treat anxiety and depression by increasing serotonin activity in the brain. A total of 14% used serotonergic antidepressants at the time of the TBI. This included 7.6% of those taking antidepressants and 7.5% of people who did not.
