Activists and residents from Worcester this weekend will demand the Northwestern District Attorney’s office drop charges against against a former city councilor who confronted federal immigration agents and police in May. The protestors will call on the district attorney’s office to drop charges filed against former Worcester District 5 Councilor Etel Haxhiaj. Minutes later, Worcester Police Officers arrived on Eureka Street, telling the crowd they were creating an unlawful assembly. Two of the ICE agents then flung Haxhiaj off of Ferreira-De Oliveira, as seen in the footage. “I don’t understand,” Haxhiaj said and told McGuirk that she had the right to be there as a district councilor.
