Enhanced ICE operations in Maine have come to an end, according to U.S.
Senator Susan Collins, after the northern state’s Republican leader said she spoke with DHS Secretary Kristi Noem several times.
“While the Department of Homeland Security does not confirm law enforcement operations, I can report that Secretary Noem has informed me that ICE has ended its enhanced activities in the State of Maine,” said Senator Collins, in a statement on Thursday.
“There are currently no ongoing or planned large-scale ICE operations here,” Collins continued.
Democratic U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree of Maine told the Maine Morning Star she can’t confirm the announcement, as she’s yet to get any response from DHS since the operation began.
