A 41-year old man who broke another man’s jaw in a flat in Ballymoney was jailed for a year on Thursday.
At 9.43pm, the injured party called 999 to report that he had been beaten up in the flat and believed his jaw was broken.
He claimed that after the injured party asked him to get drugs which he refused to do, the injured party became aggressive.
Judge Gilpin said the father-of-two had a “significant” criminal record consisting of 107 previous convictions, an addiction to drugs which began in his teens and has issues with mental health.
As well as imposing the two-year term, Judge Gilpin also granted a Destruction Order for the machete and crossbow.
