The storm will still bring strong wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph at times, minor coastal flooding, and light snow to the Jersey Shore and far southern sections of New Jersey, the weather service said.
Snow forecasts remain uncertain, with latest guidance suggesting a glancing blow of snow at the Jersey Shore and in southern counties.
If that happens, it would shatter the old daily record low of 4 degrees at Trenton Mercer Airport on Jan. 30, set in 2014.
The current record low in Newark for Jan. 30 is 3 degrees, set in 1935.
And the record low in Atlantic City is 3 below zero, set in 2014.
