CHICAGO -- A candy company that produced confections for nearly 100 years filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy Tuesday.
According to the Chicago Tribune, Primrose Candy filed for protection because it needs to reorganize more than $12 million in debt.
The company also needs to acquire new funding so that it can pay its 90 employees and other business expenses.
The family-owned confectioner generated an estimated $7.8 million in revenue in 2025, down significantly from the $11.8 million in revenue in 2024.
As part of the bankruptcy, Primrose plans to reorganize so that it can begin to pay down the debt it owes to both companies.
