FENTON TWP, MI – A second Genesee County community is exploring the possibility of a year-long moratorium on data centers. Michael Deem, township zoning administrator, said the moratorium, if enacted, would allow officials to research the topic in terms of regulations. Fenton Township wouldn’t be the first community in Genesee County to put such a moratorium in place regarding data centers. “There’s a lot of concern about data centers, specifically the amount of energy and water that they use. Other mid-Michigan communities have also put moratoriums in place or begun to have discussions on data centers.
