DETROIT, MI - Detroit Mayor Mary Sheffield said partnerships, not a choice between neighborhoods and businesses, will guide the city’s next phase of growth. “Detroit’s growth and our ability to rise higher would not be possible without you,” Sheffield said. Sheffield pushed back on what she described as a false narrative that Detroit must choose between supporting businesses or neighborhoods, calling the two “codependent.”“Businesses need strong, vibrant neighborhoods and thriving neighbors to be successful,” she said. Sheffield also highlighted the launch of the city’s new Small Business Tech Fund, which she said will help 140 small businesses with fewer than 10 employees upgrade their technology to improve operations and competitiveness. “Leadership and partnership, those are the two keys to building the Detroit we all know is possible,” Sheffield said.
