The court dismissed the bulk of the employee's financial claims, including a demand for KSh 78,754 in alleged underpaid severance and service pay. The company told the court that Karuru was let go because the company was undergoing a strategic business reorganisation. The court exercised its discretion to award one month's gross salary (KSh 184,400) as compensation for the procedural unfairness.
