Embu governor Cecily Mbarire and Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna clashed during a heated audit query session at the Senate. When committee chair Moses Kajwang pressed her to defend that decision, the governor acknowledged that the expenditure was illegal and promised to rectify. Senator Kajwang applauded her for being honest, but demanded that she assures the committee that the money would be refunded. "You are under oath to tell the truth, governor, don't take it as a badge of honour, he insisted. "Sifuna was peaceful, but you have now aroused him," said Kajwang as the committee burst into laughter.
