Dominic Bevilacqua, 25, assaulted the victim on the evening of 4 November last year at his home in Anglers Avenue, Whittlesey.
Bevilacqua then punched her in the face multiple times before placing his hands around her neck and strangling her.
Bevilacqua was arrested on 6 November and tried to blame the victim’s behaviour for the assault.
However, on Friday January 23, at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court, acting as a crown court, Bevilacqua, was jailed for 20 months, having pleaded guilty to actual bodily harm and intentional strangulation.
DC Yeli Zaicevs, who investigated, said: “Bevilacqua launched a brutal and cowardly attack and then tried to blame the victim so it’s great he’s been brought to justice.
