This could lead to a number of stores being put at risk, including those in Stevenage and Hemel Hempstead which are located inside Sports Direct at the Roaring Meg Retail Park and Marlowes Centre. GAME was acquired in 2019 by Mike Ashley's Fraser Group for £51.9 million, but the company has downsized over the past six years due to ongoing financial struggles. More than 60 stores have closed since 2020, while the company reduced its physical footprint by opening concessions sites such as those in Stevenage and Hemel Hempstead. The retailer offers new and pre-owned games, consoles, accessories and exclusive pre-order content, operating both online and in physical outlets.
