Chard Town Council has issued a statement saying the clean-up effort is still ongoing and that residents should remain vigilant as the hills around Chard are saturated and heavy rain is predicted today, as a new yellow weather warning is in place. This could cause a “significant volume of stormwater runoff”. “Whilst the impacts were similar to those of this time last year, I believe Chard has, again, been lucky. “We still have spells of isolated showers predicted with a band of heavier rain coming through later this week and the weekend. The hills around Chard are so saturated that even a brief, heavy shower could create a significant volume of stormwater runoff.
