The healthy behaviours scheme will run from February to March, with access to all four leisure centres in Epping Forest district run by Places Leisure. To access the subsidised membership scheme, prospective users must first consult a registered healthcare professional, such as a general practitioner (GP), social prescriber, physiotherapist, or dietician. Areas eligible for this new scheme are Limes Farm in Chigwell, Debden Broadway or Oakwood Hill in Loughton, and Ninefields in Waltham Abbey. On top of these criteria, eligibility extends to those who are currently on one or more benefits and have certain conditions, including high blood pressure, high fasting blood glucose, high systolic blood pressure, high BMI, high LDL cholesterol, or a diagnosed mental health condition. People will enjoy a nine-month long discounted membership, with the first third of it being free.
