The retrospective planning application to the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority says the track is needed in connection with the farm business at Little Newton. Documents with the application seek permission to "regularise the works already carried out to create an agricultural access track." The barn requires general maintenance and the track will allow proper access for this to be carried out. The track will also provide better access to the land to the south of the farm for feeding of sheep and cattle."
