The closure of New Road, Brading, will coincide with Southern Water works on Elenors Grove, Fishbourne. It means HGV (heavy goods vehicle) drivers are now facing a 20 mile diversion to get to Ryde from Wightlink's Fishbourne terminal. Between Monday, February 2 and Friday, February 27, New Road will close to traffic between Marshcombe Shute and Wrax Road. This will unfortunately mean there is an extended diversion for HGVs due to Southern Water one-way restriction on Elenors Grove, Wootton. The full diversion route for HGVs travelling from Fishbourne to Ryde is via Wootton, Downend, Arreton and Lake, through to Yarbridge, Bembridge and St Helens to reach Ryde.
