Air India did not disclose the expected delivery dates, and it did not say whether the incremental B737s would be operated by the mainline or Air India Express, although the latter said it was "looking forward to welcome 30 new B737 MAX to the family". The Indian flag carrier currently operates fifty-one B737-8s, all of them through the Air India Express AOC. Air India has unfilled orders for a further eighty-nine B737-8s and fifty B737-10s, excluding the newly announced commitment. Air India also announced that it would convert 15 firm orders for the A321-200NX to the long-range A321-200NY(XLR) variant, becoming the second Indian customer for the type after IndiGo Airlines. Air India retains 195 orders for the A321-200NX and a further 90 orders for A320-200Ns.
