Thames Valley Police said their Newbury Neighbourhood team caught the woman in the act as she tried to steal several items worth £45.50 from the M&S at the Newbury Retail Park. The woman was arrested in connection with a string of other shoplifting incidents as well, including theft from Cancer Research UK on January 28 (items valued at £39.96) and two other incidents of theft from the Newbury Retail park M&S on January 22 and January 24 valued at about £100. The force said the woman was still in police custody as of Wednesday afternoon (January 28), and promised to update residents on the outcome.
