Woman becomes pub's longest serving licensee after 46 years at the helm

Mrs Worrall, who lives with husband Graham, said she is in her “third life” at the pub having made a move to a nearby Brakspear pub The Rising Sun in Witheridge Hill in 1984.
Nearly half a century later, the longest-serving tenant says she has no imminent plans to call time, despite the mounting pressures facing the pub trade.
She said: “In the ‘80s everyone went for a pub lunch and that usually included at least one beer.
Mrs Worrall, who won Brakspear's Best Sunday Roast award, as well as Pub of the Year in 2003, said she expanded and transformed the pub while keeping its historic character.
That’s something I don’t miss.”After the pandemic, Mrs Worrall saw “fundamental change” in people’s social habits.
