National Rail announced that a fault with the barriers at a level crossing between the two stations had closed all train lines between Reading and Gatwick this evening. Travellers were told they could use their tickets at no extra cost to travel from between Reading and Wokingham, Guildford and Clapham Junction, and Clapham Junction and Gatwick Airport. The blockage was announced just after 5pm and has since been cleared, but National Rail has warned travellers to expect delays of up to 20 minutes on the affected lines as the service recovers.
